The grand-daddy of the medinas! Actually Fes takes the prize in that department but this is a close second. We arrive early in Marrakech from the train and hurry off to our hotel, Le Caspian, Mike and I have an early cooking class scheduled and the rest of the group are off to explore the city, medina and plaza.
Our class is one of the highlights of our trip. We are picked up at the hotel and taken by taxi to the medina where fresh produce and chicken are on the list of ingredients for our dish. The owner of the restaurant hand pick our ingredients with us tagging along. Then on to the restaurant where we meet Fatima our chef. We spend the next two hours preparing our dish and having mint tea on the terrace of this small beautiful restaurant which is tucked away in one of the tiny pathways in the medina. We enjoy a wonderful lunch of Moroccan Salad, Chicken and Lemon Tajine, and mint tea:
Fatima returns us safely to the plaza and we wander around buying pastries for dessert tonight with our group of travelers. Our last dinner together! We have a last look around the medina for a painting to take home as a rememberance of the trip. Eventually we find something near the hotel that is just what we hoped for, I will share it later, and then we have a final outstanding dinner with our friends!
